title: Paleomagnetic study of the geomagnetic field variations on the basis of precise paleointensity data
abstract: Precise vector behaviors of the past geomagnetic field are crucial for understanding the geomagnetic field and have been expected to constrain geodynamo models in the deep interior of the Earth. We have developed an experimental method determining intensity of the past geomagnetic field (LTD-DHT Shaw method) which gives more precise values than the conventional method does (Mochizuki et al., 2004; Oishi et al., 2005). Using the LTD-DHT Shaw method, we have obtained a detailed intensity variation during the last geomagnetic polarity reversal from a lava sequence record on Tahiti (Mochizuki et al., 2011). Including the new characteristic behaviors of the last reversal, I am going to discuss characteristic behaviors of the geomagnetic field which can be recognized on the basis of the precise paleointensity data.
